Plan for Olympia’s future
Why
it matters
Olympia is a dynamic community, and the school district must plan to meet the changing needs of our students, families, and workforce.
How
we do it
Olympia School District spent the last year learning from students, families, educators and community members about their needs and ideas for a new strategic plan. Community feedback led the district to develop six student outcomes. Now we need to:
Create goals for each of the six student outcomes with short and long-term benchmarks to measure progress and identify what is or isn’t working
Align existing programs to strategic plan outcomes, identifying areas where more programmatic support is necessary.
Use the equity analysis toolkit (see ensure equity) to analyze data and design goals that close the opportunity gap for each student group in the strategic plan.
Add the equity plan (see ensure equity) to the overall strategic plan.
Build on existing community engagement and hold annual summits to review our progress.
What
it looks like
Students and families will know how their needs are going to be met by the school district, and how the school district and school board will measure progress toward meeting those goals.
Educators will understand how the school district and school board plans to support them, invest in programs for students and families, and how we do our collaborative, reflective work together.
Community members learn how the school district and school board plan to allocate resources, design educational programs, and support students and families in our community.
