it matters

Our educators are the single greatest in-school influence on student achievement and success. Investing in educator growth allows Olympia School District to continue recruiting and retaining a talented educator workforce.


How
we do it

  • Invest in professional learning that supports educators’ development, contributes to their career advancement, and makes them feel supported and prepared to be successful in their classrooms.

  • Collaborate with the Olympia Education Association to continue providing competitive compensation to recruit and retain our educators.

  • Help our paraeducators meet the new minimum employment requirements and earn their general, advanced, and subject matter certificates for English language learners and special education.  

  • Create advisory committees for teachers, paraeducators, educational staff associates, building and district staff to collaborate with the Olympia School Board on decision-making, educational design, and program offerings.


What
it looks like

Students and families benefit and learn from educators with deep academic content knowledge, instructional practices, differentiation and classroom management techniques that meet students where they are at and help them succeed in school and in life.

Educators are reflective practitioners and members of learning communities, able to pursue their professional learning and career advancement with support and competitive compensation from Olympia School District. The experiences and knowledge of our educators guide school district decision-making and educational design. 

The community invests in resources for our educators and our schools and school district.
